Serve Them Right

Serve Them Right! is ACEA annual children and youthworkers conference, which is facilitated by our Children and Youth Commission. The aim of this conference is to raise the priority of working with children within BMCs and the wider community and to encourage, inform and equip those seeking to do so.

Objectives

The key objectives are to:

1. Encourage volunteers and those who work with children to support the physical, mental and spiritual development of those in their charge
2. Ensure that children and children’s workers become an integral part of the life of the church.
3. Identify and explore suitable resources, materials and methods for stimulating and developing learning among Black children
4. Explore ways of supporting children and young people in informal settings in line with current statutory priority areas.
5. Encourage children and young people to express their faith in practical ways.
6. To transform the way children and youthwork is carried out in BMCs
7. Support the ongoing development and personal growth of children and youthworkers

Serve them Right! reflects our aspirations for all children in our society. If you are a children or youth worker, a leader, a parent or you’re just interested in the welfare of children then this conference is designed for you.

BMCs have the largest pool of volunteers already working with black children. Therefore, by providing adequate training, information and networking, our work and contribution can be developed to prevent children from entering into the maze of exclusion, crime and under achievement. More importantly, to offer a value based provision that engenders confidence and encourages faith in God and good citizenship within our society.
